imac g5The successor to the iMac G4, the G5 design was based on the profile of the iPod, released in 2001. The G5 shipped with Panther (10.3) and all are upgradeable to Leopard (10.5). There is some confusion with the G5, some models which are Intel based (in the same case) are often mixed with the G5. Check before buying... it makes a lot of difference. The iMac G5 suffered with a lot of display/capacitor problems and were very unreliable compared to the G4 iMacs. They are often described as the most unreliable mac ever.
The clean lines were clearly designed by the team that brought us the iPod, showing the same acrylic effect that the 1st and 2nd gen iPod had.
